Still waiting for OP to deliver

There is a meme: OP will surely deliver. Lets just wait.

There are all sorts of reasons why that is a bad idea.

Why wont OP deliver?

For reasons including, but not limited to:

  • [s]he forgot
  • [s]he is procrastinating
  • [s]he got bored and left
  • [s]he always intended someone else to take over editing
  • [s]he intended to return later, but something came up
  • [s]he is busy working on other articles

Some editors[who?] even reportedly have a Life[citation needed]. That can phuq things up, too.

How do I know if an article is being worked on?

Usually, a stub article should invoke the stub template. One that someone is in the process of making major improvements to should invoke the appropriate cleanup template. There may also be something on the talk page, so try looking there. If none of that helps, try looking at the article history to see who is likely to be working on it, and check their user pages.

What should I do if Im working on an article?

Waiting... waiting... any moment now...

If it is a stub article, apply the appropriate stub template (at the top of the article). If you are intending to do major editing work, apply the appropriate cleanup template. Leave details on the article talk page.

If you fail to do any or all of these, someone else may edit the article in the meantime, complicating matters.

The aroonn wiki is a living document

Some articles are stubs. They are clearly intended and, ideally, marked as such. Other articles are more complete. But no article is ever finished.

It is always possible - and usually desirable - no matter how complete an article appears to be, no matter how finished it seems, that anyone can come along at any later time and improve it.

Obviously, if somebody is working on a specific article right now then attempting to change it will merely result in an edit conflict. That is hardly ideal. But if it is not clear that an article is currently being worked on, then feel free.

Contact an administrator

To contact another user, you would normally edit that users talk page. It is possible to contact some users by email, though not every user permits this. To contact an administrator, first find an administrator on the user list then contact them in the normal way.

In a severe emergency only, you may email an oversighter here.
